Eduko is jointly owned by City of Kouvola and Kouvola Adult Education Foundation and is a duly licensed operator by the Ministry of Education and Science and a certified member of Education Finland. Eduko also has an Erasmus+ accreditation which means a quality-assured “Erasmus+ membership” to facilitate both student and teacher exchange programmes as well as international development projects.

Eduko has more than 50 years of experience in organizing vocational education and training. We offer a wide range of learning opportunities for individuals and work teams. Training programmes focus on enhancing skills and expertise that are essential in the modern working life. Education, operations and learning environments are developed in close cooperation with working life and companies. The employment of students after graduation is particularly important to us. We also value the joy of learning and supporting students to achieve their individual goals. For us, every student is valuable and talented as an individual and we want to help them find their potential and opportunities.

The objective of studies can be either a vocational qualification (basic, advanced, or specialized) with duration of 1,5 - 3 years, continuous education for 3 - 9 months or a further training course or working life certificate training lasting 1 - 60 days. Approximately 6 500 students study at Eduko every year. The number of staff is about 260, consisting of teachers, counsellors as well as administartive and support personnel.

Applying:

- Applications period for the 2024 spring is following: 6.2.2024 - 10.3.2024.
- Student interviews are conducted between 18th and 22nd of March.
- The applicants will receive admission decions on April 9th to 10th.
- The studies will begin in Kouvola in August 2024.

Once the application has been received by Eduko, the application coordinator will contact the applicant by e-mail. Interviews for vocational degree courses will take place within two weeks or, in the case a specific group start at a date indicated in advance. All applicants will be invited to an interview where their suitability for the training programme and occupation will be assessed on the basis of the student selection criteria. For duly justified reasons, the interview may also be conducted, e.g. via Teams.

During the admission phase, language proficiency is verified based on certificates provided by the applicant or, at the discretion of the institution, a language proficiency test conducted by the institution. You will also be interviewed in Finnish.


The general student selection criteria for the rolling admission are:

1. Learning abilities of the applicant

2. Motivation of the applicant

3. Previously acquired skills

4. The applicant´s suitability for the occupation

5. The resources and opportunities needed to study

6. Student selection interview result, score

7. Areas of education regulated by the SORA-legislation, fulfilment of degree-specific health requirements

8. Possible aptitude test and/or preliminary examination

9. Possible language requirement for the training programme

The priorities of the student selection criteria may vary from degree to degree. In Finland the SORA- legislation regulates certain fields of education and states the factors preventing admission to education, the revocation and restoration of the right to study, drug testing and disciplinary actions. The focus is to improve the safety of patients and customers, traffic, minors, study and work communities as well as the legal protection of an individual student.
