Overview
The general high school program is meant for students who do not want to specialize in vocational subjects. Together with the teachers of Mänttä High School, you will learn about subjects like math, sports, health sciences, economics, and many more.
The general high school study program lasts three years on average, but you can also complete it in two or even four years. At the end of your high school career, you will take the national final exams on the subjects that you choose. Naturally, there are some subjects that are mandatory, but you also get to influence your exams quite a bit.
General high school suits students who want to keep their options open and are not yet sure which university they want to attend.
Programme structure
- Natural sciences and humanities: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, philosophy, religion/ethics, psychology, history, social studies and health education
- Languages: Finnish, English, Swedish, German, Russian and Spanish
- Other: art, physical education and music
Some of the courses are mandatory but the structure of your timetable will also depend on the voluntary courses you choose to study.
Further education opportunities
Most of our students will continue their studies after high school in universities or universities of applied sciences. Economics, natural sciences and different branches of engineering are some popular choices but it is possible to apply to any university.
Many of our students have been accepted to some of the best universities in Finland.
